This series reflects my desire to heal, to meditate on our fault lines, to push past our sharp edges, to hold space for the beauty of imperfection. The one consistent bright spot through 2020 has been my Kundalini yoga practice. I was fortunate to discover Lighthouse Yoga Center early this year. Because Lighthouse Studio was so quick to adapt to our new environment, it gave me the tools to thrive through a difficult year.

The relationship between my Kundalini practice and my artwork deepened profoundly this year. Yoga has always threaded my life, but it hasn’t always been a pleasant companion. As a woman of color and an immigrant, Lighthouse has become more than the place where I practice the physical art of yoga. It has also become a place where I could explore healing past violence, racial injustice, generational trauma, and learn how to sit with uncomfortable emotions. While the world burned, I found that I was often able to find a level of equanimity while confronting our demons. To walk this fine balance left me quite astounded. I owe this balance, this ability to resist bypassing my emotions entirely to my Kundalini practice.
