अनुनाद

48" x 48"

Acrylic & Gold Leaf on Canvas

(completed mid-July, 2020)

When I began the study for this piece, I was ruminating on George Perry Floyd, Jr., the resonance of his life, his impact. And the life of our founding father, George Washington.

Anunaad is resonance, sonority, echo. Like a ripple, like tree rings, which record, which push.

This moment is galvanizing, it makes me ask where I put my energy and question my ideas of safety and stability.

The colors are where this sits for me - the muladhara, the sacral chakra, the manipura. The I am, I feel, I do. The colors are dawn, they are the fire of rebirth, of new beginnings. It is a moment of leaping, of risking, of embarking.

As I painted this, I meditated on resonance of a life, the unbound impact. The echo can be seismic, organic, uneven, open to interpretation. It can be discordant, illusory, its sounds can draw you away from its intended narrative.

Where does this journey take you?
