This piece is a meditation on the daily anxiety from knowing. Anxiety about climate change, anxiety about war, anxiety about disease, and the daily flood of information. Most of us paper over our fears in order to engage in daily mundane acts of survival. This piece reflects the futility of blocking out the news - we all absorb the trauma in the zeitgeist despite our desires to insulate. We are drowning in the chaos of the currents and depths of our echo chambers, while our fears lurk beneath.
